TIME TO GET ARTY FOR NAIL STICKERS!
Making your own nail stickers has never been so easy, and you get to design them yourself. I have made a YouTube video for this as I find it easier to learn from a video. I have however, added simple instructions below for those that would prefer not to watch. LINK TO THE YOUTUBE VIDEO HERE
You will need to following:
- Clear Plastic Sleeve
- Piece of Plain White Paper
- Pen or Pencil
- Base Coat
- Your Choice of Nails Polish Colours
- Clear Top Coat
- Cuticle Pusher
- Nail Polish Remover
- Cotton Wool
- Dotting Tool (I used the back of a crochet hook!)
Draw your nail guide as per the image below. The inner guide is a rough dimension of your nail bed; the outer guide is for over-hang. Draw 10 guides, one for each finger and thumb. When done, put in the clear plastic sleeve.
Apply top coat to the entire area covering both the inner and our guide. Do this for all 10 rectangles.
Once the top coat is dry, apply your main base colour to the inner guide overlapping the outer slightly. For my design, I choose white as my main base colour.
When the base colour is dry, start applying your chosen colours. I used violet and a dark blue. Obviously you may style the design to your liking, I choose a marbled effect. In order to create this, randomly add your first colour, and then your second; and whilst still wet, use the dotting tool or something similar to mix the colour. Once you have your desired effect, let dry. (don’t do them days in advance as the sticker will become brittle and impossible to remove in one piece).
Once dry, use the tweezers to slowly separate the sticker from the sleeve, working from the outside in.
Once all stickers are free, apply base coat to your nails and add your masterpiece (the stickers must be added before the base coat dries. I would recommend one hand at a time since the stickers are a little delicate. Once applied, smooth the sticker over all of your nail for good coverage and attachment.
Using a cuticle pusher, push the sticker so it sits firmly in place by following the line of your nail.
Once adhered well, slowly pull and remove the over-hang with help from the cuticle pusher. If you pull a little too much, the sticker is still pretty stretchy so you still may be able to save it. Use a nail file to gently remove the over-hang from the top.
Using your cuticle pusher, add a little cotton wool and dip into nail polish remover to tidy the finger.
Add top coat to your nail and you are ready to PARTY!
Since this is just regular nail polish, you can easily remove it with normal nail polish remover.
