WHEN OILY HAIR IS GOOD!
Olive oil is not only a healthy choice when it comes to using for food, but it can also be used as a beauty product.
Did you know that when used as a deep conditioner it helps offer a glossy finish, healthier scalp and strands, improved elasticity so less breakage, and when massaged well into the scalp can help stimulate hair follicles for the growth of thicker strands. Isn’t that what we all want!
Having very long hair which I do tend to colour on occasions, and just given birth to a baby daughter, I have found that my hair has suffered tremendously. I don’t tend to use hair sprays or gels unless I wave my hair; so using Olive Oil as a deep conditioner/mask for me is perfect!
You can use it on dry or wet hair, I tend to use it on wet as I feel it is easier for me to manage that way. I wash my hair with just a small amount of shampoo and conditioner, and then pat it dry with a towel until damp. I use about 2 tablespoons of oil because I have long hair, if you have mid-length hair or shorter you probably won’t need that much. The oil needs to be warmed slightly before use (not hot, just tepid) start adding oil to the palms of your hands and work in to your hair, sections at a time. Be sure to work the oil into all of your hair including your scalp, and massage for 5 minutes. I leave it in for about an hour as I really want to add a lot of moisture to it. You can leave it in for a shorter or longer period of time depending on the hair damage. Then wash out with a little shampoo. If you want to use conditioner after you may, I don’t tend to.
If you want to use on dry hair, dry your hair slightly with a hairdryer after application to help the oil penetrate the hair.
(Please make sure to use a towel to protect your clothes whilst using the oil).
I hope you found this helpful, and I would love to read your comments if you tried this and if it worked as well for you, as it does for me.
And as always, stay fabulous!
