ADDING MUCH NEEDED LOVE AND SPARK TO YOUR OLD HEELS
Below you will find step-by-step instructions on how I did this project; and I also made a How-To video which I have inserted below.
So this week I decided to do huge clean-out of the garage and found an old pair of Zara shoes. They didn’t cost much, but since they were sooo comfortable, I wore them every time a heel moment popped its head up. As you can see from the picture below, they were worn and torn, and not at all eye pleasing; but rather than throw them out, I wanted to see if I could add a little love and care, and make them desirable again.
I dont have a proper brush for cleaning suede, so I used an old tooth brush instead, which worked just as well. I also added paper and plastic to the inside, to help keep the shape and work out the dents.
Below is 1 set of embroidery I used, and as you’ll see, I cut some pieces in half so that the shoes would look as identical as possible.
Once I cleaned the suede layer, I started by gluing the large flower to the front (just of centre), and then added a crystal to give a little extra bling. Before moving to the back of the shoe, I added pressure to ensure the embroidery was well adhered to the shoe. I used hot glue for this project, with a little fabric glue.
Then over to the back of the shoe, I layered the pieces of embroidery, and since my shoe was suede, I was able to play around with the design a little before gluing, since the pieces didn’t fall right off.
Once I had the right design, I glued all pieces well, and again putting pressure to ensure a good adhesion.
Now on to the heel; I tend to hold on to all the little extra bits that come with shoes and beaded clothes etc, so I was lucky to find a new pair of replacement heel tips in my collection. The replacements were black which I actually preferred. So to remove and replace it’s really easy; just use a pair of pliers and pull the original out, and push the new ones in.
To cover the torn suede on the back of the heal, I used a couple of embroidery leaves. Jobs a good one!!
Ok now for the finished product…. Enjoy.
I hope you like the revamp, and I would love to hear your thoughts and read your comments.
Have a fantastic Friday.
